Flooring Installation in Blackman, TN
West Murfreesboro along Manson Pike and Burnt Knob Road, between I-840 and the Stones River.
Slab-on-Grade in the Manson Pike Corridor
Blackman is the western growth ring of Murfreesboro, anchored by Blackman High and the chain of subdivisions running between Burnt Knob Road, Manson Pike, and the I-840 interchange. Almost the entire residential stock in this zone went up between 1995 and 2018 on poured slab, often post-tension on the larger 2010-era subdivisions. That construction pattern is friendly to flooring work: tile and LVP go directly over the slab once a moisture test clears, and there is no joist deflection to plan around.
Where the Slab Telegraphs Through
The flat side of slab construction is also the loud side. Click-lock LVP installed without an attached pad reads hollow underfoot in the first six months. A 2mm cross-linked polyethylene underlayment with an integrated vapor barrier softens the acoustic and gives the planks a small amount of give. On engineered hardwood, glue-down with a urethane adhesive is the only reliable method on slab; nail-down obviously is not possible, and a floated install over slab tends to cup along the seams once humidity climbs in July.
Two-Story Builds and Stair Transitions
The two-story homes around the Stewarts Glen, Belmont, and Indian Park subdivisions almost always pair a tile or LVP main floor with carpet up the stairs. The transition at the top and bottom landings is where most installs go wrong. A bullnose stair tread that matches the main-floor LVP color, with a square-edge nose and a 1.5-inch overhang, looks intentional. A generic black aluminum strip looks like a retrofit. Pre-finished stair treads from the same manufacturer as the main-floor product are worth specifying at the quote stage.
Builder-Grade Carpet on the Way Out
The 2005 to 2012 Blackman subdivisions came with a thin builder-grade carpet over a 6-pound rebond pad in main living areas. By the second owner, that carpet has compressed in the traffic lanes and the pad has lost its memory. Replacing the great room and dining room with LVP while keeping carpet in bedrooms is the most common scope on these homes, and the price runs lower than a full house conversion because the bedroom carpet does not need to be touched.
